this is Jeyling, she lives at HAT (temporary care for kids off the streets or in abusive situations). She has lived on the streets of Managua since she was little. I had the chance to pray with her and listen to her pray, it was so beautiful. Please pray that she can stay off drugs and find a place of peace and security. I hope to see her again but the kids at HAT come and go quite quickly, they are desperate kids.
Josh and one of the little guys that lives at HAT.

This iguana went running through the 1 year anniversary celebration at the Villa. You should have heard the screams. Don't you think it looks like a toy monster! William was in awe!

At Pochomil beach last Wednesday.

Riding horses on the beach. Guess how much it cost???? $2.50 for a half hour and the baby tried to eat the whole time.

Josh caught this giant rooster all by himself!
Ok, that's all for tonight. I love being able to share with everyone. We are having a great time. Did I mention that William was given un pollito last night? A chick, one day old! Everywhere we go we always add to our pets. Right now she (we say) is living in our bathroom and is well loved. I even find myself cuddling her. I think she likes us, but really is un pollito capable of loving? Haha. Her name is Gallo Pinto. You probably can't ever meet her in person because I don't think she would be allowed into the US but soon you will know her through pictures. I think she will eventually live at the Villa.
Actually, tomorrow she will have her first night there. We will be staying with the older girls for the week so Mama Alba can have a week off. 10 kids and 1 pollito ~ no problema right? We'll have fun, lots of laughs and what an amazing priveledge to be able to love and know the precious girls! They are so excited for Papa D'blanco to come on Friday!
I love you all! Thanks for reading.

Ten years ago, April of 2010 we were busy cleaning our house and selling everything we didn't think we would want in a year when we returned from Nicaragua.  Our plan was to spend a year in Nicaragua, actually, Dwight's plan was 6 months.  Our plan was for such a short time because if the kids were struggling or if it wasn't a good fit for us, then we could change plans and return to the U.S..  We rented our house furnished.  We all packed two suitcases and were ready to leave for Nicaragua on June 28.  The evening of the 27th we got a call from American Airlines saying our flight had been cancelled.  Wait a minute I thought; we are moving to Nicaragua, our bags are packed, we have left our house, you can't cancel our flight.  But they did and rescheduled us to fly out two days later. That is how our life has been over the last 10 years.  We make a plan, and our plan, for the most part, has not gone at all as we expected.  I think we are...
William with new friends at La Chureca. He thought we should give this puppy to Larry since he gave us Gallo Pinto. NO MORE ANIMALS! Finally a few pictures! Here is a classroom at El Faro church after we painted. Our team after helping to fix the water line. Yesterday another pipe burst, but today we have water again. Praying for a woman named Sylia at La Chureca. Her family has started burning the bones to make compost, they also host youth group at their house every week, 20 kids come. In the trash at La Chureca. We walked and prayed for people. We had a wonderful free day today at Pochomil beach. We swam, rode horses, rented boogie boards and collected shells. It was a good day. Pray for energy to do this second half of our trip as well. I have sensed from the beginning of our time together as a team that our time in Rio Blanco would be very important. On Sunday (Billys 18th birthday) he will preach at church in the morning and Dave will preach at night, it should be...

Time to Start Writing Again...

I stopped writing this blog a long time ago... I was tired of others always knowing what was going on in my life and with my family, well... tired of the ones that used my experience in a negative way.  But when I stopped writing because of the negative motives of one,  I kept the testimony of God's goodness from so many others. If my story can be an encouragement then I want to share, if my story will help someone know Jesus more then I want to share, if my story brings glory to God then for sure I want to share.  So I will try to share how I see Him working every single day.    I have learned a secret that leads to contentment... I believe contentment waits for us in gratitude and serving others.  Apart from these two things it is very difficult to have a lasting peace in your heart.  I have become a bit predictable in the groups I lead, there is one question that I feel is important... How have you seen God at work today?  This is a qu...
