"... For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me,
and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you" declares the Lord. Jeremiah 29:11-14a
I have been meeting with a group of girls for the last 4 years every Tuesday night. Many of them are from the group that went to the Swinomish Indian Reservation with me 5 years ago on my first mission trip and had the vision for Nicaragua. They had just finished their first year of middle school then and now in just a few short months they will be graduating and moving on. Between retreats, sleep overs and mission trips I have spent more time with this group than most people in my life! Our time together has been precious, I have learned a lot and realized that real wisdom comes from spending time seeking God not always from growing older.
If you ask these girls what my life verse is they will quickly tell you, "you will seek me and find me when you seek me with all of your heart". Now, I don't know if they could tell you where to find it in the Bible, but they KNOW IT! And they have lived it.
When I think of that verse I always ask myself (and them) rhetorical questions, like... if I seek with how much of my heart? a little bit? NO, all of my heart! I might find Him? NO, I will find Him! So... I will seek God with ALL of my heart and when I seek Him I WILL find Him! That leads me to the conclusion that if I am not seeing God at work around me, I haven't been looking.
Maybe soon I can put a picture of these sweet girls on this blog but for now I am a beginner blogger and cannot figure it out.
God bless you today and forever! Dios te bendiga hoy y siempre!
I DO always think of you when I hear that verse! I loved reading this. It just makes me smile. We are definitely a unique and wonderful group and I'm very glad that you are my friend.
ReplyDeletePS I put you in my blogroll (list of links) on my blog. hannahborcherdt.wordpress.com --hope that's ok. Just let me know if you don't want it there.
